Hope Jonathan Maswoswe – August 18, 1972 to January 12, 2025

Hope Jonathan Maswoswe passed away at his residence in New York City on January 12, 2025. He was buried after a private funeral service on February 13, in Ashland, Massachusetts. Hope was 52 years old and had been in poor health for several years. He was born in Lusaka, Zambia; grew up in Boston, Massachusetts; and also lived in the states of New York, Texas, and Tennessee. He loved the Lord and was a true believer; was happiest during extended family gatherings – the larger the better; and loved giving surprise gifts to his grandnephews and grandnieces.

Hope was predeceased by his father Jonathan Maswoswe, mother Sabina Maswoswe, and brother Joshua Maswoswe; and is survived by four siblings (and their spouses) - brother Justice Maswoswe (Sibusisiwe), brother Jordan Maswoswe (Elvia), brother Wrights Maswoswe (Florence), and sister Mary Grace Akhuetie (Joseph); and many uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces.

Hope graduated from Howard University in Washington D.C. with a Business Degree and was a high school math teacher in New York City and Houston, Texas. Based on the stories he would cheerfully share about his students, it was obvious that he absolutely loved his profession. His fun-loving personality, kindness, and ability to effectively relate to people of all ages will be terribly missed by family and friends.
