Herman C. Gomez Jr, 75, longtime resident of Ashland passed away Thursday July 30, 2026.  Born in Houston, TX, he was the son of the late Herman and Aurora (Villarreal) Gomez.  He was the husband of Barbara (Gladman) Gomez for 55 years.  Herman worked as a Supervisor of Manufacturing for Barry Controls Co. retiring in 2013.  Along with his wife Barbara, he enjoyed traveling by cruise ships around the world.  Herman served his country honorably during the Vietnam War from 1969-73 with the US Navy.

In addition to his wife Barbara, he is survived by one son Christopher Gomez and his wife Kim of Ashland, his grandsons, Austin Gomez and Army Captain Kasey Dean Litchford, and his siblings, Jesse Ralph Gomez, Lydia Boshell, James Joseph Gomez, Susan Elaine Gomez, and Marilyn Preece, along with many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday August 9th from 3p-6p in the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. Ashland, MA.  A private urn service will be held at a later date.
