Henry Francis Smith of Ashland passed into eternal peace on Wednesday, February 2, 2011. He was the beloved husband of Jean (Barritt) Smith to whom he has been married for the past 31 years. He was born in Framingham, a son of the late Warren H. Smith, Sr. and Elenora (Gingras) Smith. Henry was the loving father of five children and four stepchildren: Henry F. Smith, Jr. (predeceased), Ellen L. Burns and her husband Jim of Wellesley, Suzanne M. Natale of Brimfield, Maureen A. Englund of Sutton, CMSGT Steven A. Smith and his wife April Weeks of Scott, AFB, IL, Diane M. Fahey of West Newton (predeceased), Joseph F. Fahey of Bernardsville, NJ, Mark R. Fahey of Haverhill (predeceased) and Carol J. Campos and her husband Christian of Sherborn. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two brothers, Warren H. Smith of Star Tannery, Virginia and Robert E. Smith of Anaheim, California, Aunt, Virginia Smith of Ashland and many nieces, nephews and cousins and his former wife Jean M. Mackiernan of Wellesley. He was brother to the late Herbert J. Smith of Natick. Henry graduated from Ashland High School and was employed for over 30 years as a manager for Lucent Communications. He was also a distinguished member of the Air National Guard for over 30 years. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, February 7th at 9:00 a.m. at Saint Cecilia's Church, 54 Esty Street, Ashland, MA; visiting hours at Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main Street, Ashland, MA on Sunday, February 6th from 2-4 P.M.
