Gregory A Smart, 63 of Ashland passed away Friday April 1 ^st after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease.  He was the son of Alice (Leheny) Smart and the late Malcolm Smart and husband to the late Lela (Bowen) Smart who died in 2021.  Gregory worked as a carpenter in the New England area for many years.  He was an avid outdoorsman; especially fishing, either from a boat, land or on the ice.  He loved to grill, lounge on a float in the pool, in his chair, or on his hammock.  Greg was an avid Boston sports fan and enjoyed playing slow pitch softball.  He will be lovingly remembered for his generosity and willingness to lend a hand to his friends and family.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by three children, Jamie Smart of Framingham, and Tom and Andrew Smart of Ashland, two brothers, Jeffrey Smart and his wife Angela of Ashland, and Larry Smart of Gainsville, GA, several nieces and nephews, and many close friends.

A funeral service will be held Thursday April 7th at 6:30 PM in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. Ashland, MA.  Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 4:00-6:00 PM prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd, Waltham, MA 02452
