Gertrude A. (Kittredge) Sullivan died on January 19, 2009 after an illness. She was the beloved wife of the late J. Paul Sullivan who died in 1988. A resident of Ashland for 62 years, she was born in Framingham, the daughter of the late Bridget E. and Lawrence M. Kittredge. She graduated from Framingham High School in 1940. Prior to her marriage, she was employed at the Dennison Manufacturing Company. She later worked for many years in the Ashland Public School cafeterias. Survivors include her daughter, Mary Ann Woods of Medfield and her husband James, her daughter-in-law, Louise D. Sullivan of Adah, Pennsylvania, and three grandsons, James G. Woods and his wife Allison of Waltham, Peter S. Woods and Thomas O. Woods, both of Medfield. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. Gertrude was the mother of the late Barbara J. Sullivan who died in 2001 and of James P. Sullivan Jr. who died in 2005. She was also predeceased by her sister, Mary L. (Kittredge) Heaton and by her brothers, John Kittredge, Robert Henry Kittredge and Rev. Austin (Francis) Kittredge, S.A. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Cecilia's Church in Ashland at 9 a.m. on Saturday, January 24th followed by burial at Wildwood Cemetery. Calling hours are on Friday, January 23rd from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St., Ashland.
