Gerald Arthur Davis, 70, of Framingham, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006, at his home following a period of declining health. He was the husband of Jayne (Murphy) Davis. Born in Boston, son of the late Charles and Mildred (Keegan) Davis, he was a lifelong resident of Framingham. He graduated from Saxonville Junior High School and attended Framingham High School. Mr. Davis was a welder by trade and had been employed with BFI Industries, Holmes Trucking and at the time of his death, with Casella Corp. of Holliston. He taught welding at the Keefe Vocational School in Framingham. He was a member of the TY-Rods Hot Rod Club of Massachusetts, an avid country-western dancer, and was a sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Davis was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Staci Bridges and her husband, Bill, of Mashpee, and Tina Davis of Nashville, Tenn.; four brothers, Robert F. Davis of Framingham, Charles J. Davis of Burrillville, R.I., and Edward N. and Lawrence Davis, both of Ashland, and three sisters, Dorothy M. Bassette of Agawam, Barbara A. Peters of Ashland and Carline J. Noonan of Bradenton, Fla.; and a grandson, Tyler Bridges. He was the brother of the late Roberta F. Giles. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 1, at 10 a.m., at the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St., Ashland. Visiting hours are Tuesday, Oct. 31, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Instead of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the MetroWest Hospice, 85 Lincoln St., Framingham, MA 01702.
