Obituary

George J. Rice, 92, of Ashland passed away Monday March 3rd at his home surrounded by family. He was the loving husband of Helen (Molloy) Rice to whom he was married 68 years. Mr. Rice was employed with Raytheon Co. as a documentation engineer for many years in addition to working as a TV repairman in the Ashland area. George served his country honorably with the Army during WWII as a Technical Sgt. with the 440th Sub-Depot. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. In addition to his wife, he is survived by eight children: Michael Rice and his wife Carol of Westford; Gregory Rice and his wife Leslie of Medway; Sheila Sbano and her husband Vincent of Portland, ME; Peter Rice and his wife Janet of Bridgeton, ME; Maureen Gallagher and her husband David of Gardner; John Rice of Ashland; Paul Rice and his wife Julia of Uxbridge; and Barbara Casey and her husband Jerry of Shrewsbury; 21 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late John, Robert, and Mitchell Rice, and Lorraine Bennett. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday March 7th at 9:00am in St. Cecilia's Church, 54 Esty St. in Ashland with burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland.
