George R. Murtagh Jr. 67, of Ashland, died Friday Feb. 9th at the MetroWest Medical Center in Natick. He was the husband of Patricia (Lawrence) Murtagh for 49 years. Born in Newton, MA; the son of George and Ruth Murtagh, he lived in Natick, and moved to Ashland where he resided most of his later years. He was retired from Coan, Inc. of Natick since 1999, where he worked for 35 years starting as an oil burner technician, moving on to supervisor, sales, and then into management. He loved being around his family, camping, playing horseshoes, and time spent with friends. In addition to his wife and parents, he leaves his daughter, Debra Young and her husband David of Framingham, MA; son, George R. Murtagh III and his wife Rosie of Framingham; son, William Murtagh and his wife Ginny of Marlborough; five grandsons, two granddaughters, three great-granddaughters, and two great grandsons; two brothers, Thomas Murtagh of Alton, NH; John Murtagh of Houston, TX; a sister, Dorothy Murtagh of Belmont, NH; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Patricia Richardson. A Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date. Burial will take place in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland.
