Obituary

George Panaghos Lentros, of Ashland, died Tuesday, May 9, 2006. He was the husband of the late Angela (Koutsotasios) Lentros. Mr. Lentros was a graduate of Worcester Polytechnic and received degrees from both Harvard and Massachusetts Institute of Technology in electrical engineering. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a lieutenant and later as captain in the Pacific Theater, and as theater photographic officer on the personal staff of Gen. Douglas MacArthur at the independence ceremonies of the Philippines and in New Guinea. After the war, he served as chief engineer for both Warren Telechron and Lombard Governor and was involved in the design and building of the first electric clocks and governors for steam production to control electric current. He later founded Lentros Engineering in Ashland, which he headed for 46 years. He was a past master of North Star Masonic Lodge in Ashland and a proud member of the Aleppo Shriners, the Society of American Magicians and the International Brotherhood of Magicians. He leaves his son, Peter George Lentros; his sister, Georgia Lentros; his granddaughter, Kimberley A. Lentros; his great-grandchildren, Kaitlin and Lettie Segars; his nephews, Nicholas Nickole and his wife, Helen, of Ashland, George Costopulos and his wife, Patti, Gregory Costopulos and his wife, Donna, of Woburn; and his grandnieces, Angela and Adreana Nickole and Kaisey Costopulos. He was the brother of the late Demetrios "Jimmy" Lentros. The family's wishes are for a private service, with immediate family only, to be held Saturday, May 13, at 11 a.m., at the Matarese Funeral Home in Ashland. Following a Masonic funeral, he will be buried with his wife, Angela, in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland. The family asks that instead of flowers, memorial donations be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607; or Overlook Masonic Health Center, 88 Masonic Home, Box 1000, Charlton, MA 01507.
