George T. Brodzinski, a long time resident of Ashland, passed away peacefully at his home in the company of his famity on January 16, 2006 after a long battle with cancer. He was 78. Mr. Brodzinski was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan where he attended Catholic parochial schools, He met his future wife, Pauline Piontek, at Saint Casimer's High School where they both graduated in 1947. They were married in 1949. lmmediately after high school, Mr. Brodzinski worked in the Cadillac Division of General Motors and volunteered for the United States Marine Corps Reserves. He served in the reserves for six years, including two years of active duty during the Korean War. Mr. Brodzinski was employed as an engineer and spent most of his career with Ratheon Service Corporation in Massachusetts. He worked on all phases of air-born, ground and shipboard radar and air traffic control systems. He retired from Raytheon in 1992 after 32 years of service. Mr. Brodzinski was a long-standing member of the Knights of Columbus and held a number of leadership positions including Grand Knight of the Bishop Rice Council /#.822 in Ashland; Color Corps Commander; Faithful Navigator of the Edward F. McSweeney Assembly #400; District Deputy; Delegate to the Supreme Convention; District 2 Marshal; Assistant State Marshal and State Marshal. In addition to his wife, Pauline, Mr. Brodzinski leaves his children: Karen Napoli and her husband Vincent of Framingham, Nancy Barck and her husband John of Lancaster, George T. Brodzinski, MD and his wife Deborah of Greendale, Wisconsin, Alan Brodzinski of Hudson, Denis Brodzinski of Wells, Maine and Kenneth Brodzinski of Ashland; five grandchildren; his brother Albin of Detroit Michigan, and numerous nieces and nephews.
