Gary Dana
Gilpatrick
May 22, 1954 — Dec 24, 2023
Hopkinton
Gary Dana Gilpatrick, 69, of Hopkinton passed away on Sunday, December 24th. Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late Burnham and Maria (Geissinger) Gilpatrick, and the beloved husband of Linda (Tessier) Gilpatrick. He and Linda were married for 39 wonderful years. In his life, Gary graduated Magna Cum Laude from Framingham State University in 1978 where he was captain of the football team. He served in the Marine Corps from 1973 to 1975 at headquarters in Washington, DC, where he was meritoriously promoted twice and honorably discharged as a Corporal. During his post-military career, he worked at various telecommunication startups, among them Stratus Computer, Ascom-Nexion, and Telica. Gary was an avid reader of books, especially those authored by Stephen King, Tom Clancy, and James Rollins. He was a diehard fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Bruins and would rarely miss a game from the comfort of his leather chair by the fireplace. He adored working in his yard in his off time and in retirement, carefully cultivating a backyard filled with plants, flowers, and trees.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son; Sean Gilpatrick and his partner, Em Herms of Salem; one brother, the late David Gilpatrick and his wife Susan of Framingham; nephews Robert Gilpatrick and his wife Samantha of Framingham; Jason Gilpatrick and his wife Kristina of Framingham; Jeffrey Gilpatrick of Framingham; and niece Ashley Fitzpatrick and her husband Sean of Hudson.
In keeping with Gary's wishes, a private Celebration of Life and Burial will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
