In the quiet embrace of his home, surrounded by family, Gus Dassoni, 98 a cherished member of Ashland's community, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 3rd. Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late Angelo and Ida (Colla) Dassoni and the beloved husband of Ruth (Stimpson) Dassoni (D: 1999), now reunited after 24 years.

Gus, a former alum of Framingham High School, served in the United States Navy during World War II as a Gunner's Mate 1st Class aboard the USS Quincy, commencing in 1943. He later transitioned to the Gunite swimming pool industry, where he honed his skills as an installation and service professional for over three decades. Adeptly dubbed the "Pool Doctor," he achieved a reputation as an expert in the field. Following his semi-retirement, Gus worked at the Laborer's Training Center in Hopkinton, where he tended to the waters of the pool until the ripe age of 87, a testament to his unwavering commitment to his craft.

Gus, a family-oriented, friendly, honorable man, and a beloved, respected individual was held in high regard by all who knew him. He cherished his family above all else and took great pride in their weekly Sunday dinners filled with good food and laughter. During his younger years, he enjoyed his free time fly fishing, and even took to the skies with ultralight aircraft.
