Local business owner and Ashland resident, Frederick C. McDonald, died suddenly in his home early Friday morning. Fred was a kind and generous soul, loved by many and his loss will be deeply felt by his large family and anyone else fortunate enough to have known him.

He is survived by his wife Alba; his mother Frances McDonald; his two brothers, Dennis and Wayne; his sister Pamela; as well as his three children: sons, Michael and Daniel and daughter Kaitlyn, and his grandson Declan, among many, many others.

Born in Framingham to Frances McDonald and the late Wayman McDonald, he eventually moved to Ashland.

An avid traveler, Fred loved to spend time with family and friends all over the world. He especially loved Aruba where he made great memories with his family and friends, whom he also considered his family.

Fred will be remembered for his great generosity, kind demeanor and bright, loving soul. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday evening, August 23, at 7 PM in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main Street, Ashland. Calling hours will be held from 5-7 PM on Wednesday prior to the service.
