Frank Squillace, 96, of Ashland formerly of Newton died Wed. Feb. 24th. Born Feb. 23, 1920, in Catanzaro Italy, he was the son of the late Benemino and Maria (Viscone) Squillace. He was married to his beloved wife Mary Nicholas for 66 years. She died in June 2011. Frank served his country for four years during WWII. He received many decorations and citations, including two Bronze Stars, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, American Defense Ribbon, and the Good Conduct Medal. Frank worked for the City of Newton School Department retiring after many years of dedicated service.

The Squillace family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Tsyvin and the many doctors and nurses and staff members at the VA Department of Veterans Healthcare for the many years of quality care and respect they have always shown our father while providing for him. We would thank Dr. Christopher Smith also for providing quality compassionate care as well as the many visiting nurses who came to our home for our dad.

He is survived by his children, Marie Champagne of Ashland, Roseann Massauro and her husband Mike of Ashland, and his son Francis Squillace of Upton.   His grandchildren, Tina Lynch and her husband Randy of Bellingham, Joe Champagne and his wife Denise of Hopkinton, Michael Massauro and his wife Lisa of Ashland, and Frank Massauro and his wife Renee of Ashland. He also leaves nine great-grandchildren, R.J, Patrick, and Katie Lynch of Bellingham, Joey and Kayla of Hopkinton, and Nicholas, Dominic, Anthony, and Danielle of Ashland. He also leaves many loved nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday Feb. 26 th at 11:00am in St. Matthew's Parish, 26 Highland St. Southboro with burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland. Calling hours will be held Friday from 9:00-10:30am prior to the Mass at the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. Ashland.
