Francis Mangan, 90, of Ashland, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 28th at Emeritus at Farm Pond in Framingham. Born in Marlborough, MA; he was the son of the late Francis and Catherine (Roche) Mangan and husband of the late Irene (Barrett) Mangan who died in 2006. A resident of Ashland for over 60 years, Mr. Mangan worked as a coil winder and later a shopkeeper for GE Telechron in Ashland retiring in 1981. He was an active parishioner and choir member of St. Cecilia's Parish in Ashland, member of the Barbershop Society - Natick Chapter, and member of the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Assoc. flying his own aircraft for over 60 years. Francis was a member and past commander of the American Legion Post 77 in Ashland. He served his country honorably during WWII with the Army Air Corps as an instrument specialist and repairman. Mr. Mangan is survived by six children: Paul F. Mangan and his wife Tina of Holliston; Edward J. Mangan of Holliston; Peggy Mangan-Cross and her husband Marshall of Stow; Christine Lazar and her husband Greg of Upton; Owen R. Mangan and his wife Sheila of Hopkinton; and Andrew T Mangan of Santa Monica, CA; eleven grandchildren; Matthew, Krystin, Jack, and Carly Mangan; Nathan and Noelle Cross; Brendan and Bridget Lazar; Benjamin and Sarah Gemski, and Kayman Mangan; one brother; John Mangan of Ashland; and two sisters; Norma Carulli of Sunderland, MA; and Shirley Lundgren of Punta Gourda, FL. He was the father of the late Mary Catherine Mangan-Gemski and brother of the late Robert Mangan of Naples, ME. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 9:00am in St. Cecilia's Church in Ashland with burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland.
