Frances "Franky" Hagan, 77, of Ashland passed away Saturday, Dec. 13th after a long battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Leonard and Blanche (Couture) Fournier. Franky began her career as a teacher at Jeremiah Burke High School in Dorchester. She would later join her parents in operating the Ashland News Store, adding Mehitables Bakery to the store, renowned for Thanksgiving pies and molasses cookies. She went on to own and operate the Cutler Mill Herb Farm at her historic Fountain Street home in Ashland.

Franky had a deep love of traveling and found great joy in gardening, and raising chickens. She was a wonderful cook who loved entertaining guests, hosting lively gatherings, and bringing people together around her table.

Franky will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, welcoming home, and the joy she brought to family and friends. She treasured the many friendships she built throughout her life and loved her grand nieces and nephews dearly.

Franky is survived by her brother Leonard "Cappy" Fournier of Berlin (formerly Ashland); eight nieces and nephews, Linda Dunlevy, Patricia Marks, Karen Nee, Kevin Spillane, Danielle Avery, Brittany Peck, Olivia Deacetis, and Hayley Fournier-Carvalho; godchildren Sam Rodino, Mark Piechowski, and Mary Hersee; longtime friend Stephen Hagan; and her two beloved cats, Grace and George. She was predeceased by her sister Donna Spillane and her dear friend and business partner, Vin Rubeo.

A funeral service will be celebrated Friday Dec. 19th at 11:00am in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. Ashland, MA with burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland.  Visiting hours will be held Friday from 9:00-10:30am prior to the service in the funeral home.
