Florence Harper, 92 years young and longtime resident of Ashland, died peacefully surrounded by her family on June 25, 2015. She was born in New Bedford Massachusetts on September 15, 1922 to Sadie McGlashing. She graduated with honors from Foxboro High School, worked at the Foxboro Company, and then enlisted in the US Naval Reserve as a Wave on October 1944. After starting her family, she became the mainstay of the Registrar's Office at Framingham State University where, she retired after 29 years in January 1988. Florence known as "Flo"could often be seen at the senior center in Ashland where she made many friends. She is survived by her children; Phyllis Finnemore and husband Michael of Wimberley Texas; Nancy Gray of Alameda California; and Janet Rice and husband Peter of Bridgton Maine. She also leaves seven cherished grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. All are welcome to join Florence's family in the celebration of her life on Monday, June 29, 2015 at 11AM in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main Street in Ashland.
