Eula M. Hicks, age 86, long term resident of Ashland, Massachusetts, former resident of Florida and recent resident of Blackstone, Massachusetts, passed away on May 28, 2010 from a short illness. Born on January 8, 1924 in Framingham, Massachusetts to Riley and Golda Allen, Eula was one of seven children. She was the beloved wife of Edward V. Hicks Sr. for 51 years and companion to Hank Hamburg for 12 years. Eula worked for the General Electric Company in Ashland, Massachusetts for twenty-five years, after which she retired and moved to Florida with her husband Edward V. Hicks. Eula was also an avid member of the Eastern Star Elks Lodge, the Moose Lodge and the American Legion. Eula loved all of her children and their families. She enjoyed the beach; fun trips to the casinos, lobster dinners and going on cruises. Eula truly enjoyed life to the fullest and made the lives of those around her more interesting. Eula is survived by her sister and caregiver for the last three years, Hilda Manchester of Blackstone, her brother Lawrence Allen of Ashland; her five children and their spouses, Edward and Sharon Hicks of Holliston, Sharyn and the late Edward Weir of Millville, Julie and Richard White of Blackstone, Robin and Cynthia Hicks of Ashland and Jodie and Doug Crete of Dugspur, Virginia; along with sixteen grandchildren and twenty two great-grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held at Materese Funeral Home located in Ashland, MA, Tuesday, June 1 between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 2 at 11:00 am, also at Materese Funeral Home.
