Ernest Glendon Hamilton, Jr., a longtime resident of Ashland, passed away peacefully at St. Patrick's Manor in Framingham, on Oct. 27, 2023 after a period of declining health. Born in West Palm Beach, Florida, in April 1935, he was the son of the late Ernest Hamilton and Margaret (Doyle) Hamilton of West Newton. He leaves behind his wife of more than 60 years, Joan (Daniels) Hamilton of Ashland; son Robert and daughter-in-law Emilie-Noelle Provost of Lowell; son Richard of Ashland; granddaughter Madelaine Hamilton of Dracut; sister Ruth Connerney of East Falmouth; and sister Carole Satterfield of Englewood, Florida.

Mr. Hamilton was a 1953 graduate of Newton High School. He attended Newton Junior College, from which he graduated in 1956. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, in which he served as a military police officer from 1956 to 1958, during the Operation Hardtack atomic tests at Eniwetok. Mr. Hamilton was a Cost Analyst at Raytheon in Waltham for 35 years. He was a long-standing member of the Ashland Federated Church, where he was named deacon emeritus for his many years of service.

An avid golfer from an early age, he enjoyed summers on Cape Cod camping with his family, cookouts and gatherings with friends. He will be remembered for his generosity, kindness, sense of humor, and for his devotion and love for his family. "We had the best of the best."
