Ernest Durkee Cornish, 85 of Hopkinton, former longtime resident of Ashland passed away Sun. Dec. 1 ^st after a period of declining health. Ernest worked as a US Postal worker and sorter retiring in 1997. He served his country honorably in the Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Maury and USS Dionysus from 1952-1956.

Mr. Cornish is survived by two daughters; Eileen Fialkow and her husband Stuart of Framingham, MA; and Lori Miller and her husband Marc of Austin, TX; 4 grandchildren; David and Aaron Fialkow; Eric and Michael Miller; 8 great-grandchildren, longtime partner, Ann Diana, brother of the late Phyllis Hawley, and former husband of the late Lillian (Howland) Cornish.

A funeral service will be celebrated Sunday Dec. 8 ^th at 5:00 PM in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. Ashland, MA. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 3:00-5:00 PM prior to the service in the funeral home.
