Erlenge "Tex" Strand, 88, of Westborough, formerly of Ashland, passed away, Sunday, Oct. 18th in Westborough. Born in Brooklyn, NY; he was the son of the late Axel and Margaret (Frey) Strand and husband of E. Elizabeth (Booth) Strand. A longtime resident of Ashland, he worked for Fenwal Co. in Ashland for 42 years and was a member of St. Cecilia's Church in Ashland, and the American Legion Post 77 in Ashland. He was an avid golfer. Mr. Strand served his country honorably as a Naval Aviator during WWII, and was appointed to Selective Service Commission by President Eisenhower and served proudly on this board for 14 years. Tex was a powerful force in many lives and his smiling face will be sorely missed. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Sharon Boffey of Lebanon, NH; one son, Michael and his wife Linda of Westborough; four grandchildren; David, Adam, Justin, and Alison; one great-grandson, Jackson; one brother, William Frey of Florida; four sisters; Ruth Matrisciani and her husband Arthur of Pearl River, NY; Dorothy Wheeler of Holliston, Alice Frey of Medway, and Nancy Frey of Ashland; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Rolf, Dick, and Agnes Frey. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, Oct. 22 at 9:00am in St. Cecilia's Church in Ashland with burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland.
