Ashland - Elizabeth "Betty" (White) Martin, 88, a resident of Ashland for over 60 years passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter Maureen on Sunday, May 13, 2018.
She was the beloved wife of John S. Martin who passed away in 2004. They were married for 50 years.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Josephine (Toporcer) White.
She loved being a homemaker and cherished the wonderful years raising her family. When her children were older, she worked part time as a teacher's aide in Ashland and later full time as a payroll specialist at Dennison Manufacturing in Framingham. Betty enjoyed many years traveling around the world with her husband John visiting places such as Japan, China, Switzerland, Ireland and Alaska to name a few. She loved spending time with her family, vacations at the beach, dancing, and bingo.
Betty leaves her six children, Maureen Iarussi and her husband, Paul, of Ashland, Christine Tofani and her husband, the late Angelo Tofani, of Ashland, John Martin of Ashland, Mary Ellen Pettepit and her husband, Francis, of Hopkinton, Thomas Martin and his wife, Diane, of Spencer, Greg Martin and his wife, Paula, of Westminster, 16 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, her brother, Daniel, of Bridgewater, and sister in laws, Margaret White, Phyllis Rego, and Anna Dwyer. She is predeceased by her brothers Robert, James and Edward.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Fri. May 18th at 9:00am in St. Cecilia's Parish, 54 Esty St. Ashland, MA with burial to follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Natick. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. Ashland. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to St. Cecilia's Church, 54 Esty Street, Ashland, MA 01721 or Metrowest Hospice, 200 Nickerson Road, Suite #110, Marlborough, MA 01752
