Elinore M. (McDermott) Stier 93, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at the Wesley Health Center, Saratoga Springs, NY. She was the beloved wife of the late Christian J. Stier who died in 1997 and mother of Susan Stier Burke and her husband, Walter of Loudonville, NY and Joan M. Stier of Ashland, MA. A resident of Ashland for 53 years she was born in Boston, MA, the daughter of the late James and Margaret (Donahue) McDermott. She was a former executive secretary and retired at the age of 70. In addition to her daughters and son-in-law, she is survived by two grandchildren, Lisa M. Burke of Washington, D.C. and Michael C. Burke of Albany, NY and his fiancee, Rebecca Sarnecski, as well as several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home in Ashland, MA on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 11 AM. Calling hours will be held from 10 AM to 11 AM prior to the service. Expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to St. Cecilia's Church, 54 Esty St., Ashland, MA.
