Elena M. (Perini) Guarino, 91, the youngest and last surviving member of the Bonfiglio and Clementina Perini Family, founders of Perini Corporation of Framingham, died Nov. 9, 2007 at the home of her daughter in Ashland. She was the wife of the late Samuel Guarino and is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Cunis and her husband William of Ashland, son Rev. R. Michael Guarino, Pastor of St. Anthony's Church in Revere, daughter Patricia Graf and her husband Robert of Milwaukee, WI, and daughter-in-law Ellen Santos of Marlboro. She was also mother of the late John P. Guarino, who died in 1992. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She leaves seven grandchildren: Michael Cunis and his wife Myrle of Ashland, David Cunis and his wife Michelle of Ashland, David Graf and his wife Michelle of Pulaski, WI, Peter Graf of Milwaukee, WI, Ann Guarino of San Diego, CA, Christine Guarino of Somerville, MA and Lynn Guarino of New York City. She is also survived by six great grandchildren: Nicole, Daniel, and Matthew Cunis, and Carson, Dustin, and Carolee Graf. She was born and lived in Ashland most of her life. She and her husband retired to Yarmouth on Cape Cod until he passed away in 1991. She returned to Ashland to be near her Family. Elena was a 1934 graduate of the former Academy of the Assumption in Wellesley, MA and a 1938 graduate of Regis College in Weston MA. While on the Cape she developed a passion for golf and was a member of the Bass River Golf Club. Upon returning to Ashland she joined a group of local women who golfed at Stoneybrook. She enjoyed playing cards and being in the company of her many good friends. She loved the Red Sox and watched all their games on television, often times giving advice to the manager. Her great joy was witnessing them win two World Series. Elena was a woman of great faith in God. She was a daily communicant and active member of St. Cecilia's Church in Ashland. The funeral will be held Tuesday Nov. 13, from the Matarese Funeral Home, Main St. Ashland, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St Cecilia's Church on Esty St. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery. Visiting hours are Monday, Nov. 12, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Matarese Funeral Home in Ashland.
