Eleanor Morgan, wife of Dr. Charles Morgan, of Ashland, Mass, died Sat Sept 9 in Dover, N H. Eleanor grew up in Bayshore, NY, on Long Island, graduating from High School in 1930, a year ahead of her class. She then attended nursing school, and during World War II was head nurse in various surgical suites. She married Dr. Morgan in 1944. Following the war, they established a practice, and a family, in Ashland. The practice was interrupted by the Korean War and the draft; they spent 1952 and 1953 with the Army of Occupation in Germany. In the 1970's, with their children off at graduate schools, Dr Morgan joined the Air Force and he and Eleanor served at a variety of posts, ending in Cocoa Beach, Florida. It was a beautiful place and Eleanor loved it. Following Dr. Morgan's death, Eleanor relocated to Dover, NH, to be near family. She retained to the end her copy of The Nurse's Manual, from which a nurse may "draw inspirations and directions for the spiritual care of her suffering and dying patients." Eleanor is survived by her two sons (Charles Jr. and Bruce) and their three children ( Ross, Peggy, Joe), and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Friday September 15th at 12:00 PM in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home (www.mataresefuneral.com), 325 Main Street, Ashland. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery. One calling hour will be held from 11:00am-12:00 PM prior to the service.
