Elaine Judith Butterfield, 88, of Millbury, formerly of Hopkinton and Ashland, passed away Tuesday, May 5th at the Millbury Healthcare Center. Born in Framingham, she was daughter of the late Edward L. Rice and Edith (Johnson) Rice, and the wife of the late Harold C. Butterfield who passed away in 1974. A graduate of Framingham High, Elaine served her country honorably as a yeoman with the Navy during WWII. After military service, she was employed by the Klockner-Maller Co. in Natick. She was active in the American Legion James O. Carey Post 77 in Ashland, Past President of James O. Carey Post 77 American Legion Auxiliary, WAVES National, Ashland Women's Club and the Brownies. She is survived by three children: Joni McMahon of Millbury; Jack Butterfield and his wife Deborah of Holliston; and Jeff Butterfield of Hilo, HI; three grandchildren; Josie Goulet, and Jeremy and Justin Butterfield. A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 9th at 10:00am in St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 3 Maple St. in Framingham with burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland.
