Obituary

Edward J. "Ned" Trainor 87 of Ashland passed away in Natick on December 24th after a period of declining health. He was the husband of Irene M. (Tupper) Trainor. They had been married for 49 years. Mr. Trainor was born in Boston, and had lived in Ashland since 1957. He was the son of the late Francis L. and Lillian F. (Kelly) Trainor. Mr. Trainor was the founder and president of the Ned Trainor Construction Company Inc., established in 1965. He served his country honorably in the Navy as an Electrician's Mate, 1st Class during WWII. He was a member of the VFW Post 2331 and the Knights of Columbus in Ashland, and a former member of Carpenters Union, Local #475. Besides his wife Mr. Trainor leaves four sons; Stephen Trainor and his wife Bunny of Ashland, Joseph Trainor and his wife Gerry of Upton, Raymond Trainor of Ashland, and Edward Trainor and his wife Julie of Franklin; two stepsons, Richard Cunningham and his wife Michele of Hopkinton, and Robert Cunningham and his wife Cynthia of Indiana; two sisters, Lillian Livorsi and Ann Trainor both of Holbrook; one brother, Francis Trainor of Quincy; fourteen grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated, Friday, December 29th at 9:00 AM in St. Cecilia's Church in Ashland. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Thursday, December 28th from 5:00-8:00 PM in the Matarese Funeral Home (www.mataresefuneral.com) 325 Main Street, in Ashland.
