Obituary

Edward Patrick Navin, 71, of Ashland passed away at his home Wed. Dec. 5th after a period of declining health. Born in Lee, MA; he was the son of the late Edward Ronald and Irene (Burns) Navin and beloved husband of Dr. Patricia (Powers) Navin to whom he had been married for 47 years. Mr. Navin graduated from Cranwell Prepatory School, Lenox, MA, in 1958 and went on to earn a BA from Suffolk Univ. and an MBA from Babson College. He made his career as an accountant working for Price Waterhouse, Ogden Foods, and BTR and several other firms. Mr. Navin was a veteran of the US Army and a member of the American Legion Post 77. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, fishing for rainbow trout, backyard birding and had a love for horses. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters; Paula Manley and her husband Justin of Kingston, MA; and Christine Doherty and her husband Daniel of Medway; three grandchildren; Rowan Manley, and Timothy and Emma Doherty; two sisters; Beverly Trombley and Dolores Eckert, both of Lee, MA; and one brother, William Navin of Lee, MA and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Robert Navin of Lee, MA. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, December 10th at 9:00am in St. Cecilia's Church in Ashland. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 3:00-6:00 PM in the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. in Ashland. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Coalition for Pulmonary Fibrosis, 10866 W.
