Obituary

Guy, Edward Joseph Douglas/Ashland Edward Joseph Guy, 78, of Douglas, formerly of Ashland, passed away, Thursday, Nov. 1st. Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late Christopher and Elizabeth (Mangold) Guy. He was the husband of Mary Lou (Restelli) Guy, to whom he was married 52 years. A resident of Ashland for 40 years before moving to Douglas in 2005, Mr. Guy was a graduate of Boston Technical School and worked as a manager with Boston Edison for 40 years. He was a member of the American Legion James O'Carey Post 77 in Ashland, coached Ashland Little League, and was a previous member of the Framingham Elks. Edward served his country honorably during WWII as a Sergeant in the Marine Corps. In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, Stephen Guy and his fiance' Kimberly Houle of Framingham, two daughters; Karen Palinkas of Douglas, and Kathy Gilburt of Douglas, six grandchildren: Ashleigh Guy, Edward and Nichole Palinkas, Mathew and Aimee Gilburt, and Jennifer Merchant and her husband William Merchant Jr.; four great grandchildren, Jacob, Tyler, Gunner, and Sloane Merchant, one brother, Charles Guy of Ashland, and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Christopher Guy. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 7th at 12:00PM in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. in Ashland. One calling hour will be held Wednesday from 11:00am-12:00 PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Dana Farber/Brigham and Woman's Cancer Center at Milford Regional Medical Center, ATTN: Development Office, 14 Prospect St. Milford, MA 01757
