Dorothy R. Menard, 92, of York, Maine, formerly of Ashland Ma, passed away on April 13, 2015. She was the daughter to the late Francis Powers and Lucille (Mathieu) Wadsworth and wife to the late Edward J. Menard who died in 1995. Dot was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed crocheting and would make blankets and sweaters for the grandchildren and the great grandchildren when they were younger. She would also crochet hats and clothes for her great grandchildren's stuffed animals. She had a passion for cooking and loved to entertain and cook for her friends and family. She became an avid traveler in her later years taking her first plane ride to Las Vegas when she was 74. She enjoyed traveling with her family to Atlantic City, Martha's Vineyard, Disney world ( three times) and went on four cruises (her last one was in 2014 ). Cruising was by far her favorite. She loved to be around her great grandchildren, she would burst with pride when they came over. She loved joining them playing silly card games, Mexican train and even went tubing with them when she was 84 years old. If you asked her what she wanted out of life her answer was simple and always the same, I want my family. She is survived by two sons; Robert Menard and his wife Katherine of York, Maine and Edward Menard and his wife Mary of Whitinsville, MA. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren; Christopher Menard, Michelle York, Kelly Eastwood, Tracy and Lisa Menard, as well as 15 great grandchildren. A funeral mass will be held at 11AM on Friday, April 17th at St. John the Evangelist Parish, 20 Church Street in Hopkinton. Calling hours will be held from 5-7PM on Thursday evening April 16th at the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main Street in Ashland.
