ASHLAND – Dorothy A. Domestico, 83, of Ashland passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2008 after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Vincent Domestico, and the mother of her late beloved son, Jimmy Domestico. She was also the mother-in-law of the late Faye Domestico. She retired from the Ashland Police Department after working for many years as a crossing guard and police dispatcher. She also worked for a number of years in the Campus Security Department at Wellesley College. Dorothy was fond of writing spirited letters to the editor about Ashland politics and drafted several successful citizens' petitions to change town government. She loved talking about politics, dogs, and her red Ford Crown Victoria. But most of all, she loved bragging about her grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Arnold Domestico, of Crossville, Tennessee; her daughter, Sandra Merusi, and her husband, Joseph, of Upton; her daughter, Anne-Marie Jakobsen, and her husband, Martin, of Holliston; her son, Edward Domestico, and his wife, Suzanne, of Bellingham; and her son, Charles Domestico, and his wife, Donna, of Ashland. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and her niece, Cheri, of Buena Park, California. Visiting hours are Friday, April 4, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main Street, Ashland. A funeral mass will be held at St. Cecilia's, Ashland, on Saturday, April 5, at 9:00 a.m. Memorial donations in Dorothy's name may be made to the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer at avonwalk.org or to Avon Foundation, P.O.
