Dorothy Marie Clowes, 87, longtime resident of Ashland passed away Sun. May 21st after a period of declining health.  Born in Natick, MA, she was the daughter of the late Myron and Gladys (Parker) Potter.  Dorothy was a longtime employee of Sears and Roebuck Co., starting as a dispatcher at their Westboro facility in 1969 and retiring as a human resource officer in Natick in 1993.  She was a faithful member of the Federated Church of Ashland, serving as secretary of the Theta Phi Delta Woman's Group, sang in the church choir, and was a member of the Orient Chapter of the Eastern Star.  Mrs. Clowes was active in her community serving on the Friends of the Council on Aging in Ashland and volunteered for many years at the Metrowest Medical Center in Framingham.  Dotty was an accomplished singer and member of Heavenly Fusion Chorale.

She is survived by three children: Donald Clowes and his wife Marianne of Gardner, MA, Jeannette Blackler and her husband William of Ashland, MA, and David Clowes and his wife Joan of Franklin, MA, five grandchildren, Matthew Clowes and his wife Danielle, Jeffrey Blackler, Michelle Blackler and her wife Sarah, Dana Sullivan and her husband Jack, and Connor Clowes, and four great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Thursday May 25th at 10:00am in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. Ashland, MA with burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 PM in the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Dorothy's name to the Ashland Emergency Fund, PO Box 112, Ashland, MA  01721
