Dorothy May Carter, 91, of Framingham passed away Sunday Nov. 24th surrounded by her family. Born in Framingham, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Emma (Neal) Bassett and wife of the late Burton A. Carter who died in 2008. Mrs. Carter worked as an office manager for Gilchrist Department Store and later Filene's Department Store until retiring in the early 1980's. She was a past president of the Framingham Emblem Club. She is survived by two daughters; Sandra Colley and her husband Donald of Poinciana, FL; and Cynthia Carter of Arlington, VA; one grandson, Kevin Colley, two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Laura Colley, one sister, Stella Bassett of Maine, and two brothers, Elton Bassett of Medfield, and Charles Bassett of California. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 27th at 11:00am in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. in Ashland with burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland.
