Dorothy M Anderson, 92, of Ashland, passed away, Saturday, April 12th, at the Carlyle House Nursing Home in Framingham. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Hannah (Foley) Anderson. A graduate of Bryant and Stratton Business School, she worked as a contract administrator for the Navy, a position she held for many years and, just as with her other activities, performed with diligence. Dorothy was a devoted Catholic and was unfailing in her contributions to charities and those in need. She spent time on many retreats and pilgrimages, and studied the theology of St. Thomas Aquinas. She loved the outdoors and the beauty of nature, taking trips to the Blue Hills, Appalachians, and Glacier National Park. Her travels also included Europe, especially Ireland. And Foxwoods. She shared her travels through skilled photography learned from Ansel Adams; once earning first prize with the Boston Globe. She also had a great love of food. She is survived by one sister, Mildred Cavanaugh of Silvis, IL; one brother, Paul J. of Sharon, MA; 10 nieces and nephews, 14 great-nieces and nephews, and 1 great-great nephew. She was the sister of the late Thelma L McMahon and the late George "Tenny" Anderson. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April, 16th at 8:00am in the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St in Ashland followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00am in St. Cecilia's Church in Ashland with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Hyde Park.
