Obituary

Doris Marie (Irvine) Stefanini, age 86, of Framingham passed away on Wednesday, May 8, surrounded by her loving family after a long period of declining health. Doris was the wife of the late Augusto Stefanini, who died in 1994. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Emma Jane (Clark) Irvine, and sister of the late Glenn Irvine. Doris is survived by five sons: Francis of Framingham, Alan and his wife Dianne of Greenfield, Peter and his wife Kathleen of Hopkinton, Thomas and his wife Annette and John and his wife Cecilia all of Framingham. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Jamie, Jessica, Daniel, Kristina, Julia; and two great-grandchildren: Joseph and Jacob. She is also survived by her nephews and nieces: Margaret, Joyce, Diane and her husband Harold, Thomas, and Charlie and his wife Kathleen. Doris was trained as a cadet nurse at Newton-Wellesley Hospital, and earned her Bachelor and Masters degrees at Framingham State College. She worked as a surgical nurse at Framingham Union Hospital, and was employed as a geriatric nurse at both Cushing and Bethany Hospital. And Doris worked as a school nurse in the Framingham Public School system. She was a lifelong member of the former Park Street Baptist Church and First Baptist Church. She participated in the Framingham Heart Study and Nurse's National Health Study. Doris was a member of Ladies of the Lake and Framingham Women's Club, where she served as past president. Doris volunteered for the American Red Cross, Girl Scouts of America, Unicef, March of Dimes, and Veterans groups. Doris loved music, art and gardening. She sang in numerous choirs: the Park Street Baptist Church Choir, A Cappella Singers, and Wayland Golden Tones and Golden Nuggets. She composed several songs, one which was recorded. She also published several poems. Those wishing to make a remembrance in her honor are encouraged to contribute or volunteer in her name to make a difference in their community. A funeral service will be held Monday May 13th at 10:00am in the First Baptist Church, 1013 Worcester Road in Framingham with burial to follow in Edgell Grove Cemetery in Framingham.
