Donald Allen Mace, 79, of Edgewater, FL, formerly of Milford, MA passed away Thursday Jan. 3rd. Born in Waltham, MA; he was the son of the late Harold and Nettie (Rimmele) Mace and husband to Ann (Pascucci) Mace. A graduate of Waltham High School Class of 1951, Donald served his country honorably in the Air Force during the Korean War. After his service he began his career as a corrections officer at the MA Department of Correction in Concord, MA retiring as an Assistant Deputy Superintendent in 1986. He would later move from Milford, MA to Edgewater, FL in 1996. Mr. Mace was an avid golfer, bowler, and dedicated New England sports fan. In addition to his wife, he is survived by eight children: Donna Mace of Clinton, MA; Stephen Mace and his wife Judi of Hooper, UT; Karen Collins and her husband James of Clinton, MA; Douglas Mace and his wife Sandra of Waltham, MA; Jeffrey Mace and his wife Jane of Framingham, MA; Kimberly Maffiola and her husband Ralph of Waltham, MA; Gregory Mace of Marlborough, MA; and Ronald Mace and his wife Susan of Hudson, MA; thirteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister; Marilyn Doel of Lantana, FL; two sister-in-laws; Jean Cronin and her husband Michael and Janet Pegoraro; brother in law; Joseph Pascucci Jr. and his wife Jackie; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Elton Mace of Waltham and Clinton. A funeral service will be held Thursday, Jan. 10th at 10:00am in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. in Ashland.
