Deborah "Debbie" A. Leacu, 67, of Ashland passed away Sat. April 14th at her home. She was the daughter of the late Richard C Varnum and Margaret V Nugent of Hopkinton.

She is survived by William Leacu Jr. of Ashland, Sandra Varnum of Hopkinton, brother Richard C. Varnum Jr. of Thailand, sisters, Janet Robson, Peggy Varnum, Diane Mercier and her husband Eric, and Susan Varnum all of Milford, and several nieces and nephews. Deborah also leaves several close friends who were very supportive of her with her recent health issues.

Deborah lived in Hopkinton for many years and more recently spent her latter years in Ashland. She worked for Dennison Co., Holmes Transportation, Kidde Fenwall, and also held several other positions in the area.

Debbie held a special place in her heart for animals, especially her beloved dog Herbie whom she leaves behind. She loved family, friends, and the solitude of the ocean. She also enjoyed bargain hunting. Deborah was quick witted, fashionable, always well put together, and had a vibrant personality. She was a beautiful woman and will be missed by many.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 21st at 10:00am in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. in Ashland. Calling hours will be held Friday from 5:00-7:00 PM in the funeral home.
