David William Preston, 76, a longtime resident of Ashland passed away Thursday January 9, 2025.

Born in Natick he was the son of the late Ely and Yvonne (Holmes) Preston.

Mr. Preston served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.   Mr. Preston was a civil engineer. He owned and operated Development Service Co.

He is survived by his loving wife Linda (Zaniboni). They were married 47 years. Mr. Preston also leaves two sisters, Jeanne Preston of Wayland, Judith Lawrence of Punta Gorda, FL, brother-in-law David Zaniboni of Santa Barbara, CA, sister-in-law Karen Hall of Ashland, brother-in-law George Hall of Framingham, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

David was very talented and engaged those talents in a variety of hobbies. If he was outdoors, he could be found tending to his Koi Pond or the train that travelled through his garden. He was a member of the Weston Nurseries Garden Train Club.  Mr. Preston also had his Builders License. His woodworking skills were demonstrated in the making of miniature dollhouses and miniature Shaker furniture.

Services are private and will be held at a later date.
