David Luscombe
Keough
Jul 29, 1958 — Feb 6, 2026
David Luscombe Keough, born July 29, 1958, in Keene, New Hampshire, lived a life defined by resilience, curiosity, and generosity. Born hearing and later becoming deaf due to illness, David faced adversity early on and met it with determination and grace. He attended the Rochester Institute of Technology, where he met the love of his life, Lori. Together they built a home in Natick, Massachusetts, where they raised their two children and became deeply rooted in their community. Shortly after the birth of their first child, David's kidneys began failing due to the effects of the childhood illness that impacted his hearing. For the rest of his life, David often spoke about how honored and grateful he was for the love and sacrifice of his brother, Matthew, who donated a kidney to David in 1993.
David followed his passion for photography into a remarkable career as a biomedical photography expert at Boston University. He dedicated forty years to his work before retiring in 2024, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues through his skill, reliability, and work ethic. A man of many interests, David found joy in hunting, fishing, gardening, and playing pickleball; he found his true peace in the outdoors.
He was always physically active and determined to make the most of the life he had been given, including competing on a tennis team in the Transplant Games shortly after his kidney transplant! Known for his kindness, patience, and willingness to help others, David was a familiar and trusted presence in his community. Whether lending a hand, fixing something around the house, or simply showing up when needed, he did so with humility and care.
David is survived by his beloved wife Lori; his son David Andrew; his daughter Sharla and her husband Adam; his brother Matthew; his sister Deborah; and his nephews, Tim and Shawn. These loved ones, along with countless friends and colleagues, were touched by David's quiet brilliance, gratitude, and generous spirit. He will be deeply and sorely missed.
David's family is planning a celebration of life for David this summer (details forthcoming) and would be honored if his family and friends would join in remembering this wonderful husband, father, brother, and friend.
In lieu of flowers, David's family invites you to honor his memory with a donation to the National Kidney Foundation , helping others continue to experience the joy and fullness of life that David cherished every day.
