Dallas "The Pinball Wizard" Overturf, 54, of Ashland passed away April 10th after a period of declining health. He is survived by his mother, Doris (Follansbee) Overturf, sister, Sarah (Overturf) Lindsay and her husband James as well as his two nieces, Margaret and Emily Martinez, and step-nieces and nephews, James Lindsay, Alexia Beaulieu, and Andrew Lindsay. He was predeceased by is beloved grandmother, Hazel Follansbee, and his aunt and uncle, Mary and Warren Follansbee. He also leaves five Follansbee cousins; Lois Sanford; Stephen Follansbee; Susan Peters; Anne Noble; and Peter Follansbee; along with their twelve children; James, David, Megan Sanford; Jane Follansbee; Katie, Brian, and Kevin Peters; Joanne, Lauren, and Greg Noble; and Rose and Daniel Follansbee; and fourteen grandchildren; Anthony, Chelsea, Logan, Jillian, Hayden, Patrick, Hunter, Emmerson, Jack, Sam, Josephine, Anna Rose, Mary, Catherine, and Izabela, with whom he spent many Christmas holidays and to whom he was extremely generous. In addition he leaves his second family and neighbors the Iarussi's; Oswald and Maryanne Iarussi and their children; Mark, Dianne, Paul, Linda, Susan, Ozzie, Mary, Christopher, David, Robert, Nancy, and Brian. Growing up on Main Street in Ashland, the neighborhood would play touch football, kick the can, swimming in the pool, and snowball fights. As the family grew, with spouses and many children, Dallas was loved by them all. In his later years, every gathering with Dallas included a competitive game of cribbage! In 1972, at the age of 12, Dallas was diagnosed with a brain tumor. This began a lifelong struggle with his health. One of Dallas' claims to fame was walking downtown in Ashland and playing pinball at the local pizza shop. He mastered the machine and in 1980 won the National Pinball Championship. He continued his passion with pinball by buying and repairing many machines throughout his life. He was known by many as The Pinball Wizard. Dallas was a true Trekkie, and an avid reader of sci-fi. A Celebration of his Life will be held June 13th at 12:00 PM in the American Legion James O'Carey Post 77, 40 Summer St. in Ashland.
