Obituary

Clifford Martell of Ashland, Massachusetts, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at 89 years old. He leaves his beloved wife of 62 years, Florence Ruth Martell. Mr. Martell was born in Somerville, Mass. on June 7, 1924, son of the late James and Carrie Martell. He was very proud of his service as a radioman in the Navy during WWII and was present in Normandy, France on D-Day. He worked for Inland Express of Marlborough for 29 years and Bacson Blue Print in Framingham for 10 years. Mr. Martell was active in his community serving as the President of Ashland Youth Hockey during the 1970's and as a parishioner with St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Hopkinton and later with St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Framingham. He is survived by a sister, Edna Hebb of Ayer, Mass.; a sister, Irene Robertson, of Acton, Mass.; and a brother, Harold Martell of Florida. He was a devoted father to a daughter, Diane Martell, and her partner, Vera Toro, of Rhode Island; and four sons, Cliff Drechsler-Martell and his wife, Ruth, of Connecticut; Mark Martell and his wife, Debra, of Nashua, New Hampshire; Paul Martell and his wife, Kim, of Medway; and Jonathan Martell and his wife, Kristin, of Mendon. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and one great-grandson. A funeral service will be held Monday at 10:00am in St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 3 Maple Street, Framingham, MA with interment to follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Ashland. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3-5 PM at the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main Street, Ashland.
