Obituary

Charlotte Marie (Cameron) Cobb, 82, of Ashland died on May 30, 2009 in the Faulkner Hospital in Boston after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's. She was surrounded by her husband of 60 years Freeman T. Cobb and family. She was born July 4, 1926 in Roslindale Ma.to Henry Clifford and Marie (Reyno) Cameron of Boston. She lived in Jamaica Plain for a short time with her husband and they later moved to Hyde Park where they lived for 20 years and raised their family. The couple then moved to Ashland, Ma where they enjoyed retirement for the next 32 years. Charlotte was a waitress at the Filenes restaurant in Boston while her four children were young. In the 70's she was a secretary for Daryll's Music Hall in the Paine Furniture building in Boston. She worked with Dr. Dimondopolis in the Research Department at Harvard Medical School in the early 80's. She retired from her position as secretary at Babson College in Wellesley at the age of 65. Charlotte was a devoted Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She loved her family and was immensely loved by them. She was a generous, kind, gentle lady. She loved music,and dancing and was an admirable square dancer. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, puzzle making, reading, baking and power walking. She spent quality time visiting her family all over New England. She had a sweet tooth and a contagious smile. She had a zest for learning and tried to learn something new every day. She taught her children well. Charlotte is survived by her loving husband Freeman T. Cobb of Ashland Ma., three daughters: Martha Munroe and husband James of W. Townsend, Ma; Bernice Scherb and her husband David of Redding, Ct; and Virginia Skinner and her husband Fred of New Durham, N.H; six grandchildren: Victoria Munroe and her husband Doug Weihrauch of Northampton, MA; Cliff and Ryan Scherb of NY, NY; and Spencer, Tyler, and Clayton Skinner of New Durham, NH; one great-grandson, Max Weihrauch; one sister Evelyn Broderick of Roslindale, Ma.; and one brother, Earl Clifford Cameron of Yuma, Arizona; along with many nieces and nephews.. She was predeceased by her son Douglas F. Cobb of Buffalo, N.Y. March 11, 2008. She was a good wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt and friend. We will miss her mightily. Her boat may have left our view but it has come over the horizon to another's. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 9:00am in St. Cecilia's Church in Ashland with cremation to follow. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Matarese Funeral Home (www.mataresefuneral.com) 325 Main St. in Ashland. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Charlotte's name to the Alzheimer's Association, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472 or the charity of your choice.
