Charles Auguste Joseph Reimer of Ashland, age 93, passed away at St Patrick's Nursing Home in Framingham on Sunday, April 1, 2012. He was born March 18, 1919 in Amesbury, MA to Charles A. and Germaine (Proulx) Reimer. He lived most of his life in Ashland. He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Jeannette (Lemieux), and his brother, Alfonse LeDoux. He is survived by his sister, Sister Irene LeDoux, SSCh of Marlboro, his children, Charles Reimer and his wife Janet of Virginia, Irene Foster and her husband John Alan of Wayland, Lillian Holden and her husband Leonard of Hopkinton, and Gilles Reimer and his wife Sonya of Salisbury Mills, New York. Charles treasured his 5 Grandsons and 4 Granddaughters, and 10 Great Grandchildren. He was a World War II Veteran who served in the U.S. Army in the North African, Italian, Southern France, and Rhineland campaigns and was awarded a Bronze Star and appointed a Chief Warrant Officer. He was commissioned in the Massachusetts National Guard post WWII, serving for several years in the 114th Medical Battalion. He attended Assumption College before joining the Army and Northeastern University after the war. He worked for the Massachusetts Department of Labor and Industries as an Investigator, retiring after 43 years of service. Mr. Reimer enjoyed visiting and being with his extended family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a dedicated Boston sports fan, and enjoyed attending and watching games on TV. His friends from St. Cecilia's, Sunnyside Café, Hopkinton Drug , Shaw's Market in Ashland and his caretakers were very special to him. He was an active member of Saint Cecelia's Parish and served as an usher and in other volunteer positions. He also served on various boards and commission in the Town of Ashland throughout his life. He was a member of American Legion Post 77, the Bishop Rice Council, Knights of Columbus, and the Lion's Club in Ashland. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, April 14th at 10:00am in St. Patrick's Manor Chapel, 863 Central St. in Framingham with burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland. Calling hours will be held Friday from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. in Ashland.
