Obituary

Charles A. Garbarino Jr., 86, of Ashland passed away on March 6th with his
family at his side.
Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late
Charles Sr. and Lucy (Gonfrade) Garbarino and husband of Janet (McIntyre)
Garbarino, who died in 2011. Charlie and Janet were married for 61 years.
Charlie's unwavering strength and commitment allowed him to care for her
during her last years with us. A lifelong resident of Ashland, Charles
graduated from Ashland High School Class of 1947, where he distinguished
himself as a record setting football player.  He also played with the
Shamrocks semi-pro football team. He worked as an Engineer with Fenwal, Inc.
in Ashland for many years retiring in 1990. He was a former member of the
Maspenock Rod and Gun Club and current member of the Sons of the American
Legion in Ashland. His favorite activities were his family, his home, and
seeing his morning crowd at Lucky Farm in Ashland for coffee and chat.
During his recent challenges, Charlie displayed courage and resolve, and
maintained hope and optimism.
Mr. Garbarino is survived by his three children; Charles Garbarino III and
his wife Karen of Hopkinton; Carol Donoghue and her husband Thomas of
Ashland; and William Garbarino and his wife Patricia of Ashland; seven
grandchildren; Charles Garbarino IV, Ann-Marie Stephens, Michael Garbarino,
Patrick Donoghue, Brian Donoghue, Lisa Vendetti, and Laura Garbarino; nine
great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild: his exceptional sister,
Alice Slatkavitz of Framingham, and one sister-in-law, Agnes Penney of
Hopkinton.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
