THOMPSON, Catherine B. 'Buffy', 89, died peacefully at home July 22nd. Born in Winchester, MA, on October 22, 1935. Buffy was the second of seven children to Bartholomew 'Bart' and B. Celia (Grady) Conlon of Woburn, MA. Buffy graduated from St. Charles Parochial School in Woburn in 1953 and her Catholic formation and faith remained the substance of many aspects of her life. Buffy met and married the love of her life Paul B. Thompson in May 1957. Having celebrated the distinct privilege of 68 years of marriage. Paul & Buffy moved into the family home in 1963 which Paul built on Charles Street, in Georgetown, becoming their forever home. On Charles Street, they raised their 6 children. Buffy's resiliency which shown throughout her life proved to be a powerful source of her faith, passions, strength, discipline, and talents. This resiliency also shown in her generosity and love for all who knew her. Buffy excelled in many things, cooking, cleaning, sewing, gardening, exercising, photography and her ongoing quest of learning, and no challenge could discourage her. Buffy was self-taught in photography and became a professional at it. Now, MANY have her works as prized possessions. Buffy was a long standing and active parishioner of St. Mary's Parish, Georgetown as well as many other local community organizations. Buffy was always graciously willing to help whoever needed her assistance. Buffy was the recipient of 2 lifetime achievements awards, one from the Town of Georgetown and the other from The Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Buffy is survived by her husband, Paul B. Thompson, of Georgetown. Daughters, Suzanne 'Suzy' (Frank) Ramos of Orlando, FL, Kelly (Jon) Stronach of Haverhill. Sons, Sean Thompson of Georgetown and Brian, 'Buck' Thompson of Sheffield, MA. Buffy leaves 9 Grandchildren and 10 Great grandchildren. As well as surviving siblings, Bartholomew 'Buddy' (Rita) Conlon of Woburn, Sheila (Terrance 'Terry') McMillan, of Santa Maria, CA, Eileen Dean of Rockport, and Linda Bunten, as well as many nieces, nephews and their children. Buffy was predeceased by son Patrick, 'Packy' Thompson, daughter Erin Livingston, sister Patricia and brother John, (Jackie) Conlon. Relatives and friends are invited to a Funeral Mass, Thursday July 31st, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 94 Andover Street, Georgetown, MA. Committal service will be private. All funeral arrangements are under the direction of Matarese Funeral Home. The family wished to express their sincere appreciation to the compassionate care and attention provided by Care Dimensions Hospice.
