Obituary

Carole June (Gehrig) Ferias (68) passed away the night of Saturday, April 26, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. She died peacefully and surrounded by loved ones.

Born February 25, 1957 to June and Russell Gehrig in Ashland, MA, Carole was the youngest of four children, two sisters and one brother. She had a fun and loving childhood. She first trained as a veterinarian technician, pursuing her love and compassion for animals.

She later found a strong desire to travel and became a tour guide, taking people all around the globe. That is also where she met Kevin Ferias, who she'd go on to marry in 1991. They had a supportive 28 year marriage where they had two amazing children.

In 1994 and 1995, she bore her daughter and son, and moved to Warren, RI where she cared deeply for her children and made a wonderful community of friends and neighbors. Carole cared for a many pets in this time, including Mimi, Squash, Fay, Halo, Spot, and Lilly.

She volunteered for the local school system, booking field trips for students, close and far. She started working at a local fish market, gaining access to delicious, fresh seafood—her favorite—as well as delighting every customer that came in.

She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012, beating it with the support of her loved ones. She inspired her coworkers to join her in the 39.3-mile Avon breast cancer charity walk, raising money for medical research.

Throughout her life, Carole was the paragon of positive thinking and strength. She lit up every room she was in and spread courage like fire. She taught us all that there are no better medicines than positivity and laughter.

She is survived by her children Carly Ferias, husband Matthew Browning (and grand-dog Toby); Eric Ferias, partner Caitlin Guccione; sisters Joy Saxon, husband Steven Saxon (Framingham, MA) and Ellen Davis, husband Stacey Davis (Medway, MA); brother Jay Gehrig (Nashua, NH) and Joan Gehrig (Princeton, MA) and many nieces, nephews, family-in-law, family friends and many others. The warmth Carole spread will stay in the hearts and memories of all who knew her.

Please join us for a Celebration of Life to honor Carole, May 15th, 4pm-7pm at the Coachmen's Lodge (273 Wrentham Rd, Bellingham, MA) with a Memorial Service at 6pm. Please wear a color that reminds you of Carole's style.
