Carolann Gill, 64, of Ashland died peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday October 31st at Metro west Medical Center in Framingham. She was born in Charlestown to the late James Henry Dowd and Florence M. (Davidson) Dowd Russo. She is survived by her lifelong partner and dear friend, David Kadlik of Natick; also, 3 daughters: Dee Heaton & her husband Mark of Ashland, Cheryl Raney & her husband John of Alstead, NH, and Christine Gill of Milford; 15 grandchildren: Mike & Stacey Heaton, Cory & Casey Heaton, Lizz Heaton, Curtis Payne, John Raney, Jr,. Sean Raney, Krystal Schram, Dan Raney, Amanda Laird, Laurene Raney, Adam Clough, Caroleea Robbins and Stephanie Mayers; great-grandchildren: Tessa & Nicholas Heaton, Romeo, Deliligh, and Siera; 3 sisters: Catherine V. Dowd, Marie Hughes & her husband Art, Joan Lloyd & her husband Richard, Nancy Dowd; and her brother John Dowd, Sr. & his wife Maureen. She was predeceased by two brothers: Joseph A. Russo, Jr. and William Dowd. She is also survived by her special nieces and nephews and her goddaughter and friend, Jen Madden of Ashland. Carolann was an active member of Ashland Federated Church and participated in the Stewardship Missions. She was an active caller for Theta Phi Delta Women's Club, and a member of Take Off Pounds Sensibly for over 25 years. She loved the outdoors, particularly New Hampshire and South Dakota; reading; and most of all, her family. A funeral service will be held Tuesday morning at 11 AM in the Federated Church of Ashland. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4-8 PM at the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St., Ashland. The family strongly asks that donations be made to the Federated Church of Ashland, 118 Main St., Ashland, MA 01721 instead of flowers.
