Carmella Mary "Lee" (Carcieri) DeSista, 92, of Framingham, formerly of Warwick, RI; passed away, Tuesday, Sept. 11th at the MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham. Born in East Greenwich, RI; she was the daughter of the late Nicola and Maria (Ambalosi) Carcieri and wife of James Edward DeSista. They were married 61 years. Mrs. DeSista worked in many different fields including an ambulance driver during the Hurricane of 1938, car salesman, real estate broker, clerk with the Social Security Administration while living in Texas, and an administrative assistant with the National Institute of Health in Washington DC; where she also participated in studies. She enjoyed playing the piano and was an artist, most recently concentrating in Oriental Art. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son Robert James DeSista and his wife Mary Ann of Ashland, MA; grandchildren; Anna Lee DeSista of Boston and Gregory James DeSista of Somerville, MA; sister, Viola Massenzio of Milton, MA; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Nicola Carcieri, Anthony Carcieri, Eva Ambalosi King, and Angelina (Gentine) O'Brien. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 15th at 10:00am in St. Cecilia's Church, 54 Esty St. in Ashland. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Francis Cemetery in Peacedale, RI. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the Matarese Funeral Home in Ashland.
