Bradford Doty
Marple
Feb 11, 1929 — Nov 22, 2016
Bradford Doty Marple, 87, of Westborough, beloved husband to Constance Marple (d. 4/12/16) passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2016, joining the wife he missed so much.
He was born Bradford Doty, Jr. in Cambridge, MA, to Bradford and Constance Doty. After the death of Bradford, Sr., Constance married Charles Allen Marple, who adopted young Bradford Jr at the age of 7. Brad legally changed his name to Bradford Doty Marple in 1993; he was very proud to be a descendant of Edward Doughty, who came over on the Mayflower, and quite often searched out "cousins" on his travels.
Brad attended Curry College and Massachusetts Radio School; he served as an electronics technician in the Coast Guard during the Korean war, stationed in Attu, Alaska. He was a lifelong Ham radio enthusiast, retaining his license and callsign W1RUH, until 2014.
He met Constance Fuller on a blind date at a New Year's Eve party closing out 1957, and they were married a few months later in 1958. From then on, they were one word to family and friends; "ConnieandBrad".
Brad professional career spanned 37 years at , Raytheon, working in the Purchasing Department. He and Connie led a full and happy life together, traveling, playing music (he the clarinet, she the piano), attending and serving at church, performing at Southgate during their years there, and collecting many friends and surrogate children, who will miss them greatly.
The family would like to thank the wonderful people at Ascend Hospice, whose loving care and attention helped to enrich both Connie and Brad's last years.
A graveside service will be held at Wildwood Cemetery, 166 Chestnut Street, Ashland, MA at 10am on Saturday, December 3. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the Marple name to Faith Community Church, 146 East Main St. in Hopkinton. -
