Obituary

With her family by her side, Beverly Jean Savage died peacefully in Framingham on December 6, 2013, after a brief illness. Born in Framingham nearly 84 years ago, and predeceased by her former husband Richard B. Dew Jr., she leaves her children Richard Dew III and his wife Karen, of West Roxbury; Kimberly Dew Leichtling and her husband David, of Ashton, MD; Tracy Abatsis of Framingham; and Tamara Rich and her husband David, of Ashland. Also survived by her grandchildren Tyler and Christopher Dew; Zachary, Daniel and Jessica Kate Leichtling; Kristen McHenry and Courtney Abatsis; Jameson Rich, and her great-grandchildren Connor and Anelie McHenry. Sister of Betty Jane Strohecker of Columbia SC and the late James Savage Jr. A 1951 graduate of Framingham State Teachers' College, she taught at the Brown School in Natick and worked in the Barbieri School library. Passionate about playing and teaching Bridge, earning the rank of Junior Master and playing internationally on her iPad right up to the end of her life. Trip of a lifetime to China in 1988. Loved her books, watching movies and seeing her family. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday December 10th in the chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home 325 Main Street Ashland at 5PM. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 5PM prior to service time. Donations may be made in her name to Boston Children's Hospital.
